Hapiness

Happiness where IS IT?

So before giving my views on happiness and why most of the people aren't still able to find happiness and be happy. I would like to ask you to put a question to yourself and think for a moment, what is the source that gives you this eerie feeling like butterflies in your stomach. Well, whatever object or action that gives you this feeling is what makes you happy.

Everyone has a different source of that eerie feeling. An action which gives one person the feeling of oneness and wholesomeness compulsorily need not be the same for another person. Again here perspective plays a great ROLE. Perspective comes into the picture here as in how an individual views a situation on the basis of whether or not it gives him happiness. Human beings indirectly tend to see everything from psychological perspective. That is when an individual decides to do an action he or she is not directly concerned with but is instead concerned with the end result that event will give. That event or action is just the medium through which the person will get the feeling of happiness. For example, If there is a certain game which you enjoy to play a lot on daily basis, the game is not in itself giving you happiness but the action of playing it does give you momentarily joy. Here, the moments you enjoy while playing the game is what is making you happy in reality.

Other than that One person's source of feeling happy need not be necessarily another person's source because as human beings we all differ from each other, talk differently, walk differently, think differently etc. Due to this there is a high possibility of people's ideologies conflicting with each other. Its just that people have to understand and adjust each other's individual needs and there will be way for peace and harmony. All in all only you, yourself have the power to make you happy, though the stimuli to happiness maybe due to external things, however happiness due to that stimuli still comes from the within. Hence, if you want to be happy intrinsically, external stimuli will work as a medium in that goal however, if there is no feeling only to be happy from the inner self then no amount of external stimuli can make a person happy. As a wise man once said "Happiness is a choice, not a result. Nothing will make you happy until you chose to be happy."

Our most Valuable Asset!!

I assume that just by reading the title of this second blog post, many of you would be already pondering upon what would I describe as a most valuable asset to us. So let's get it straight, this valuable asset is available to all of us and is common to everyone, whether they are rich or poor.
It is Time, yes people time is one's most valuable asset as it is something which we can never gain back.

We all have  this asset provided to ourselves equally, regardless of whether we are rich or poor, young or old. It is same that is everyone of us gets 24 hours everyday and by our freewill we decide how will we spend our time and also whom we will spend it with; but in making this decision of how to spend our time we sometimes happen to make a mistake and happen to loose our precious time which sadly we can't gain back and start blaming others and wondering about how did we make such a huge mistake.

As the quote in this image says that time is the most valuable thing a man can spend, why don't we organize our time and use it carefully instead of just letting it go. The question here is that if we are so knowledgeable and do understand the importance of time what happens to us in our daily lives when we spend a great amount of time behind the things that don't matter at all and invest a limited amount of time behind the things that do matter to us the most (our goals , our dreams etc).

I feel the main reason, that we end up investing our time into not so important issues is because we are given the illusion that time is something which we have in abundance for ourselves whereas its otherwise. This illusion is given to us by the things which we are addicted to or the things which we do but aren't that important in actuality. For instance, let's say a person is addicted to spending time on social media posting updates, commenting and chatting; so this person will feel that the way he is spending his time is perfect for him as he has developed a habit to spend time like that hence, he stays under this illusion wasting a quite an amount of time. Until and uptil this person will break his habit of spending time on social media and replace it with something useful, he won't realize that the way he was spending his valuable time initially was wrong. This was a an example, however, many of us do end up spending a lot of time on social media and not focus on things which do matter to us in actuality.

As I mentioned earlier that all of us are provided with equal amount of time (24 hours a day) and it's our free will on how we spend it. I believe if we spend (manage) our time properly, all of us can achieve great feats. History has been a witness that whoever had spent their time wisely was successful. This was my perspective towards what a our most valuable asset is, Do let me know through comments what is your perspective regarding time being our most valuable asset.

Beginning of a Philosophical Inquiry

Hi everyone, my name is Sanskar Barot and Iam studying at an university right now(as of from the name of the blog you must have already judged about this blog's main foundation being based on philosophical inquiry). The reason Iam starting to blog on philosophy is, I believe that all of us have different perspectives towards reality; and so as to share my perspectives of how a philosophical inquiry can be conducted on our day to day activities. So lets get ahead on this enthralling and unique journey of connecting philosophy to our daily lives and understand the deeper meaning behind everything.

Philosophy is a very extensive subject which encourages an individual studying it to think critically in mainly all aspects of life. It makes us understand our true selves and helps in understanding the nature of the world we live in. People who study philosophy are often engaged in asking, answering, evaluating and reasoning life's most basic yet difficult questions. By answering these questions philosophers develop a new perspective towards life and the world they live in.

A particular situation can be perceived in two different ways by separate individuals as shown in the image. Though optical illusion does play quite a role in this image. However, both of the individuals have different perspectives for it. As it suggests that everything we see is a perspective and not the truth. This particular line itself is quite debatable as if whatever we see is not truth then what is truth?

I was wondering upon this from quite a long time, and after some brainstorming sessions I came to the conclusion that truth is also one of our views. Views in terms of thinking what is right and what is wrong depending upon our belief systems and how we see an event as a whole. Well there are many concepts proposed in the past by great philosophers regarding  what truth actually is.

Just to keep things clear and simple let's go ahead with the ELUSIVE theory of truth. This theory in general states that our perspective on any situation is mainly based upon what we ourselves think of to be true. Let's say you have a distinct way of doing your day to day tasks and you don't like if it's not done in the same manner as you do it. Now, if your friend judges you in context of having this peculiar way to do a task, you will get defensive and start proving yourselves to him that what you are doing is right and explain them your perspective. However, they see it from a different view and hence, a different perspective. Therefore in a single situation, the truth for two different people is different due to their perspectives towards it.

In the end I would like to say all comes down to perspective that is  how you view things. Ultimately there are many theories developed overtime by philosophers on what truth is in actuality. However, all theories can have subjective value but you can't define it in a proper sense as it's not necessary that what an individual perceives to be true for them is also perceived as truth by others.
